Who Else Wants to Find Ways to Get Pregnant? These 3 Moms Share Their Story
The Various Ways to Get Pregnant
When it comes to the best ways to get pregnant, there’s no shortage of possibilities, stories and hail-marys it seems. But how do you know what will really work for you? Is there a process to follow or a standard to find a way to get pregnant that has the highest rate of success? It’s a daunting, emotionally-challenging task, especially if you have been trying to get pregnant for any length of time without success. According to WomensHealth.gov, infertility is defined as “not being able to get pregnant after one year of trying (or six months if a woman is 35 or older).” This definition also includes women who “can get pregnant but are unable to stay pregnant may also be infertile.” It’s estimated that about ? of infertility problems are caused by women’s issues and another ? of fertility problems are due to the man’s issues, with the last ? being a combination of both. Pregnancy is the result of a simple process, but one that has many steps where issues can arise. In order to get pregnant the following steps need to happen perfectly: (no pressure!)
- The woman’s body needs to release an egg from her ovaries. Optimally, this means a consistent cycle.
- The egg must go through a fallopian tube toward the uterus. Women who suffer from endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease and other ovarian issues may ovulate, but the egg gets stuck.
- A man’s sperm must join with the egg along the way.
- The fertilized egg then must attach to the inside of the uterus.
